4th of July!

Several years ago my in-laws decided to buy a lake home.  My father in law searched for a long time for just the right lake and just the right home.  He finally found a great lake community and we’ve all been enjoying the house since!

They purchased the lake house in June several years ago, right before the 4th of July.  As we met neighbors in the community, everyone told us how we couldn’t miss the BIG 4th of July parade.  The way everyone talked about it you would think it was as big as Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

After all the hype, we were sure to get a great spot on the parade route that first year and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the first “float” coming towards us!  You see, this lake community also has a golf course with a private road which means most everybody that lives there drives a golf cart to get around the community.  Their idea of “floats” is to decorate their golf carts in celebration of July 4th!

We laughed for days after that first year and we’ve only missed one parade since!  This years 4th of July parade didn’t disappoint!  Here’s a few pictures of the “floats” we saw this year.

The kids love watching the parade and catching all the candy – they even made their own special bags to hold all the candy this year!

We are still trying to convince Grandpa to buy a golf cart so we can make our own “float” for next years parade!

I love “Parades” they seem to bring out the “Kid” in all of us. With all the laughing and cheering we forget to be sad. I’ve seen parades where people were marching,or riding in an automobile or a float or horseback but never using Golf Carts until now. This was truly amazing and so much fun. Thanks for inviting me.
