Last Minute Gift Idea

Aren’t these coasters cute!? I saw this idea in Family Fun magazine a month or two ago! These would make great last minute gifts and would work for Christmas or any other holiday.

First gather your supplies.

You will need 2-3 colors of felt, scissors, pencil or fabric marking pen, ruler, binder clips, cork board (I found precut circle coasters at hobby lobby) and glue.  Family Fun magazine used sticky backed felt to make theirs, but I only had regular felt pieces on hand.  Instead of running out to the store, I pulled out my bottle of liquid spray glue, 3M Super 777 .  It is extra strong and bonds felt really well.  You can find it at your local craft store.

Next, use the binder clips to hold your felt pieces together and cut out a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch square (if you use 3 colors of felt then one square will make 3 coasters).  Then, use your pencil to draw wiggle lines on your felt and cut along your lines.

Now you are ready to spray your coasters.  Be sure to spray your coasters outside and place newspaper down – the spray will stick to anything it touches!  Next place your cut wavy pieces across your coaster and allow to dry.

After the glue has dried, you can cut off the excess felt.

Lastly, stack the coasters up and tie together with a pretty ribbon for a nice presentation!
