Today’s Deals

Today was grocery/cvs shopping day and I got some awesome deals, including a unexpected deal!

Typically when I grocery shop I keep my eyes on my list – not on the shelves.  I usually only go down the aisles that I need to go down, I have found that this keeps items that aren’t on my list out of my basket!  Today while at Publix (have I mentioned how much I love Publix?) I took a turn down the wrong aisle!  As I got to the end of the aisle, completely irritated that I was wasting time, I noticed a “in store special”  otherwise know as a “unadvertised special!”  The special was BOGOF on Minute Maid Juice Coolers – something that we are in need of (I use these in the boys lunches) – the “in store special” price came to $1.09 a box!!  As I piled some into my cart I thought “isn’t God a hoot?” He sent me down the “wrong” aisle just to bless me with a great deal!  I love that!

Another bonus this week is that we received a $5/$30 purchase at Publix yesterday in the mail!  Whoo Hoo, that makes my heart sing !  The $5 coupon is included in the total savings number.

Now onto my other shopping deals today:

blog

The first stop was Ingles, a grocery store here in Georgia.  I have only been there once before because I have found their prices to be very high; however, this week they had a great sale on cubed steak that I just couldn’t pass up!  My next stop was CVS with a cashier that was more than 1/2 asleep!  My last stop was Publix 🙂  Here’s the breakdown:

INGLES

  • Cubed Steak $2.84/lb
  • Grapes $1.68/lb

Total Purchased $17.48

Total Savings $6.74

Total OOP $10.74

CVS

  • 2 All Detergent BOGOF $7.49, used 2 .40 coupons = $3.35/ea
  • Cototnelle 20 rolls $12.97, used .50 coupon = $12.47
  • Garnier hair spray $2.99, used $1 coupon = $1.99

Total Purchased $30.94

Total Savings $9.79

Total ECB’s Used $20.35

Total ECB’s Earned $6

Total OOP $.80

PUBLIX

  • Chicken $1.99/lb (this is the lowest I’ve seen it here, I bought 15 pounds)
  • Ground Beef $2.69/lb (on sale, not the best price, but we needed 1/lb for dinner next week)
  • 8 Pasta/Rice A Roni BOGOF, used 2 $1 coupons = .58 each
  • 2 Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks BOGOF, used .50 coupon, doubled = .80 each
  • 3 Pringles 5/$5, used .30 coupon, doubled = .80 each
  • 6 Minute Maid Juice Coolers BOGOF = 1.09 each

Total Purchased $107.89

Total OOP $44.13

A Fun Day at CVS!

I received a compliment from the cashier today at CVS, she told me that my receipt was the longest she had ever seen . . . and I only spent $11.41 out of pocket!

I was happy to see a decent week of ECB’s at CVS as last week there wasn’t much at all.  Here’s a breakdown of what I got:

  • 3 12-pk Coca Cola Products $10.00 (earned $2 in ECB’s)
  • GUM Toothbrush 2-pk $3.99, less .75 coupon (earned 3.99 in ECB’s)
  • 2 packages of Candy Corn $1.29 each (earned 2.58 in ECB’s)
  • Powerade Drink $1.69, less .75 coupon (earned 1.69 in ECB’s)
  • Bag of Smarties $1.99 (no ECB’s, but needed for preschool class)
  • 2 Pumpkin Pails .99 each (earned 1.98 in ECB’s)
  • 2 Funlight Glow Sticks .99 each (earned 1.98 in ECB’s)

Total $24.21, less $1.50 in coupons, less $11.79 in ECB’s spent, plus .49 tax = $11.41 out of pocket and I received $14.22 in ECB’s to use on my next purchase!

As you can see, most of my out of pocket expense were the Coca-Cola products and those were at hubby’s request as we were completely out of all drinks except tea and milk!  My boys already have pumpkin pails for Halloween, but I have plans for the 2 FREE ones I purchased . . . I will share my plan with you soon!

A CVS Trip

Today was my first trip to CVS in about a month!  Can you believe it?  I think that’s the longest period of time I’ve gone without visiting CVS since I started CVSing.  I had a $6 ECB that was expiring TODAY and I just wouldn’t be able to stand it if I “lost” $6 so I made a special trip today!

There is a brand new CVS not too far from our house so I thought I would give it a try.  The store has a little bit different set up but is very large, clean and well organized!

Here’s the deal I got (I know it doesn’t look like a lot, but I only had $6 in ECB’s to use):

Here’s the breakdown of my cost:

  • Vitamin Water $2.29, got $2.29 in ECB’s back
  • 2 Colgate Toothpaste $2.99 each, used 2 $1 off coupons, got $4 in ECB’s back
  • Bic Soleli Razor $5.99, used $2 off coupon, got $4 in ECB’s back

Total cost $14.26, less $4 coupons, less $6 ECB’s = Total Out of Pocket $4.26 Received $10.29 in ECB’s

What a beautiful shopping day!

CVS in Georgia

On Sunday I visited a local CVS here in Georgia.  I wasn’t sure what to expect . . . would the store be wiped clean of all the great deals or would there be plenty to choose from?

As I entered the store the first thing I noticed was the “magic coupon machine”!!!! Whoo hoooo!!!!  My favorite CVS in Texas has not yet received the “magic coupon machine” so this was a first for me!  If you have never seen the coupon machine, you can view the “magic coupon machine” at Alyssa’s blog.  It printed out 3 coupons that I tucked away for future use 🙂  I love this machine!

Next I started to search out my items and I was so excited when they had ALL of the items I wanted!!!!  There were even the free products from the July ECB book!  At my old store the free monthly deals are snatched up the first day of the month so this was a treat!

I can’t wait to see what deals there are for this next week!
